Three Toronto FC footballers were arrested in Houston last night, following a drunken brawl outside of Club Escobar, the Toronto Sun reports. No word as to how many members of the Medellin Cartel were injured in the proceedings, but FC’s Miguel Aceval, Nick Soolsma and Luis Silva were all thrown in the drunk tank overnight.
The players, in town for a match against the Houston Dynamo, were “given an opportunity to walk away from the situation multiple times before officers attempted to handcuff one of the Reds,” according to the Sun. “One of them ran and so the officer ran and the officer took him into custody,” a Houston PD spokesperson said.
As a disgruntled fan remarked in the comments section, “Hey at least one of them showed some effort and tried to outrun the cops. Totally different from their effort on the field where running seems to be foreign to them all.” Alas, with their league-worst 1-10 record on the season, it seems that TFC’s fans aren’t willing to go into battle for them—so they had to take matters into their own hands.
