Djihadiste: A holy warrior, someone who battles to propagate Islam.

Avaliser: To offer one’s endorsement or support, to guarantee something (ie a payment).

Déliquescence: A degeneration or decrepitude caused by disorder. “État en déliquescence” refers to a failed state.

Lapidation: Death by stoning.

Portion congrue: Minimal, insufficient wages or resources, ie the bare minimum.

Putschiste: A participant in a coup d’état (putsch being the German term for coup, ie Beer Hall Putsch).
