In the dumbest display of corporate tweeting since CelebBoutique thought Aurora was trending because of its Kim Kardashian dress, some bonehead at President’s Choice posted the following to their Twitter account yesterday:
Frankly, I’m surprised seven people even liked that, as it wasn’t even a good joke. Not that humour is always appropriate in the face of tragedy—but this wasn’t even funny, just a terrible, terrible plug for a recipe. Let’s see, Hurricane Sandy has killed 50 people—in the States alone—but your drink has marshmallows in it? Gee, sounds like a toss-up to me!
Not surprisingly, the company has apologized, stating “We sincerely apologize for the insensitive tweet. We understand the seriousness of the storm and didn’t intend to make light of it.” Eeeeexcept that’s exactly what they were doing with their product plug. That’s almost as bad as saying “our PR firm isn’t US-based,” as the offending fashion company did back in January…
