The Toronto Sun is reporting that “over-the-counter topical muscle and joint pain relievers” like BenGay and IcyHot have been found to create chemical burns, according to a report from the Food and Drug Administration in the United States. Apparently, over 40 cases were reported of severe burns and blisters forming within 24 hours of using such products.
Incidentally, the “Hot” in IcyHot comes from capsaicin, a common component of pepper spray. That’s why, much like a certain hair-removal product, it should not be applied to the knob and bollocks. (I believe that Tucker Max knows a thing or two about capsaicin as well…)
On a side note, why do they still air those ads for the IcyHot patch with Shaq shooting hoops in an I-can’t-believe-it’s-not-the-Phoenix-Suns jersey? Shouldn’t they update the spot to show The Big Aristotle tying his tie and getting his makeup done in the TNT studio, or something?
