Pole-dancing: it’s not just for strippers—or adults—anymore!

A Vancouver Island dance studio has raised a ruckus by introducing its Little Spinners pole-dancing class for kids.  Apparently, four kids have already signed up, including a five-year-old girl and a little boy, the CBC reports.  And this phenomenon isn’t limited to Vancouver, either.  As per the CBC, children as young as seven years old will be competing at the Russian national pole-dancing championships, which are set to begin this week.  (I hope this sporting event with be televised on TSN2 or Sportsnet World…)  England has also introduced children’s pole-dancing classes—although doing so led to someone making a documentary about “the sexualization of children” in protest.

Mind you, the instructor at Twisted Grip Dance and Fitness Studio doesn’t see a problem in teaching children this life skill.  “It’s pure fitness and strength and fun. I mean kids love climbing trees. They will climb anything.”  And hey, it will also help them get more tips in college.  But let’s hope they aren’t offering children’s lap-dancing classes out on the left coast.  After all, those kids will climb anything…
