So, it seems that Amazon must keep its guns and its TVs in the same warehouse. Let’s hope it’s well-guarded…

One time, when I bought something online, UPS sent me both the package I was expecting as well as a package destined to someone else, over which they had stuck a shipping label with my name and address on it.  After that, I had to call several times and eventually threaten to throw the damn thing out (I think it was a book or something) in order to get them to make a pickup at my place after 5 pm.  So that was a bit of a hassle.  Mind you, that’s nothing compared to the inconvenience experienced by Washington D.C. resident Seth Horvitz, who ordered a flat-screen TV on Amazon, only to find a box containing a high-powered—and highly illegal—assault rifle delivered to his doorstep.  Yikes!

As reported by FOX D.C., “The shipping label on the box had Horvitz’s name and address, but the invoice inside the box indicated it should have been shipped to a gun shop in Pennsylvania.”  Looks like he was a victim of the same switcheroo.  Doing the responsible thing, Horvitz called the cops, who came and confiscated the SIG716.  ”[Police] were a little confused at first, they’ve never seen anything quite like it,” says Horvitz. “They just took my information and then said we’ll handle this weapon because it’s illegal to keep here. It’s illegal to transport in a car, so it can’t be returned.”

No word as to whether he ever got his TV…
