And here I thought the Swiss were supposed to be neutral…

Although she’s still the best-looking Greek Nazi I’ve ever seen, Voula Papachristou is no longer the only athlete to be kicked out of the Olympics for posting racist statements on Twitter.  Swiss defender Michel Morganella, who was yellow-carded and booed heavily in a match against South Korea where he dove and faked an injury, took to the social networking site afterwards to call his opponents a bunch of retards, adding that he hoped they burn in hell.  « Je les tous Defonce Coréens, allez vous tous Bruler, bande de trisos, » he wrote in broken French, leading to the suspension of his account.

But not only have his Twitter posting privileges just been revoked, so has his diplomatic immunity ticket to London.  “He discriminated, insulted and violated the dignity of the South Korean football team and the South Korean people,” Swiss team chief Gian Gilli told reporters, according to The Associated Press.  That’s no way to show Olympic spirit!

In any case, it doesn’t look like the Swiss team will need him for the medal rounds.  Their 2-1 loss to the South Koreans came after a 1-1 draw against Gabon, putting them in a last-place tie in Group B.  Even a win against Mexico won’t advance them into the quarterfinals—not that the European countries send their best players to this tournament in the first place.
