In a landmark ruling of oft-precedented proportions, British Columbia announced today that it will allow patrons to bring their own wine to restaurants—subject to an as-of-yet undisclosed “corking fee,” mind you. Hardly the first province to pass this piece of legislation, B.C. now joins Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba and Alberta and a couple other provinces the Globe and Mail doesn’t care enough about to mention, most likely in the Maritimes. But really, BYOB is so 2008. How about a real piece of trend-setting legislation—a Bring Your Own Weed policy? After all, it would be awfully good for business…
