FRENCH WORD OF THE DAY: Durcir le ton

Durcir le ton: To talk tough, to get tough or to be harsher.  (Literally translates to “harden the tone”)

(Translation: “One-hundred Arab and foreign countries that met Friday in Paris under the ‘Friends of the Syrian People’ banner called on the United Nations to get tough on President Al-Assad’s regime.”)
