FRENCH WORD OF THE DAY: Plaidoyer

Plaidoyer: A speech or written statement defending a person, cause or idea.

As seen in: « Faisant campagne en Ohio, jeudi, le président démocrate Barack Obama et son futur rival républicain Mitt Romney ont tous deux prononcé un plaidoyer à saveur économique. »

(Translation: “Campaigning in Ohio Thursday, Democrat President Barack Obama and his future Republican rival Mitt Romney both gave speeches defending their positions on the economy.”)
