FRENCH WORD OF THE DAY: Dot

Dot: A dowry, sum paid to a new husband from the bride’s family in certain cultures.

(Translation: “By all means, François Legault’s CAQ shouldn’t have married Gérard Deltell’s ADQ, or any other party, but the reality in the near-term is that the new party needs the dowry of Mario Dumont’s former party.”)
